11.02.26
Saxophonist Tim Lin has emerged as one of the most compelling young voices in modern jazz. Born and raised in the Bay Area of California, Lin developed a deep love of the bebop tradition while forging a sound that is at once classic and contemporary. After studying with respected educators and performers including Dann Zinn, Bob Sheppard, Bob Mintzer and Jerry Bergonzi, Lin built a strong foundation that has helped him establish himself as a respected performer, composer, and recording artist.
Throughout his career, Lin has shared the stage with many acclaimed jazz artists and has earned recognition for his technical command, lyrical phrasing, and dedication to the art form. His performances blend the influence of jazz masters with his own creative voice. Listeners and fellow musicians alike admire his ability to balance tradition with innovation, creating music that feels authentic, expressive, and deeply connected to the history of the art form.
In addition to performing, Lin continues to contribute to the jazz community through recording projects, education, and entrepreneurial ventures. He has released four albums: ‘Romance in Formosa’ (2022), ‘Empathy’ (2023), ‘Birdwatching’ (2024), and ‘Heartfelt’ (2025), which was released by Sony Music Taiwan and recorded with musicians Dick Oatts, Rodney Green, Jeb Patton, and David Wong. His albums are highly-played on the US jazz charts and Spotify, with more than 2.5 million plays and more than 100,000 listeners per month, and he remains dedicated to expanding his musical horizons while inspiring the next generation of jazz musicians. Lin is also a formidable saxophone repairman and clinician and runs the Bebop Sax Shop in NYC
