2025 was a year to remember at The Django jazz club in NYC. From straight-ahead stalwarts to cutting-edge upstarts, the music and the great vibes never stopped. Here’s what we remember most about this past year:
In January, trombone master Conrad Herwig kicked the year off in style, with a Tuesday residency that showcased his Latin Side All-Stars on the music of jazz greats like John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner and more. Look for him and new music from his unforgettable band in 2026.
February saw famed vocalist and club favorite Judith Owen return to celebrate her latest album “Come on & Get It.” And when David Letterman’s own Paul Shaffer joined her on keys, the music truly went to 11!
In March, piano legend Michael Wolff took to our Sunday night stage. Best known for his work as Arsenio Hall’s Music Director, Wolf got his start accompanying icons like Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins, Nancy Wilson and Tony Williams. Look for him back on our stage in February – one show not to miss! And April was just as compelling, with a residency by acclaimed New Orleans drum and vibraphone ace Jason Marsalis (yes, of that Marsalis family)!
May was a month of vocal prowess – with appearances from Danish songstress Sinne Eeg, rising star Anais Reno, and Django favorite singer and swinging pianist Champian Fulton. June saw the return of our Latin Tuesdays, with a monthly appearance by the crowd-pleasing/hip shaking People of Earth that continues to this day, and an unforgettable trio set from David Bowie’s longtime pianist Mike Garson. July saw father and son sax/trumpet virtuosos Jeff and Preston Rupert share and take the stage on their own for simmering sets of classic jazz. And August was a month to celebrate new female performers on our stage, including compelling pianist Caili O’Doherty, singing sensation Vivian Sessoms, and powerhouse vocalist Emily Braden.
September signaled new beginnings, with the launch of an early matinee show that featured favorites like Darnell White and Pete Malinverni. October was a month of debuts, with appearances by new acts like piano master Cesar Orozco and SonAhead, and bass upstart Nolan Nwachukwu. In November, decorated young jazz vocalist Tyreek McDole graced our stage with his band HVLT, and December saw appearances by a new crop of vocalists like Mark Grandfield and Marissa Mulder.
There’s something sonic for everyone at the Django – from swing to Latin, classic to contemporary. We can’t wait for you to join us in 2026 for another year of magical musical moments.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy and musical holiday season and New Year!
With our very best,
The Django NYC Family
