Vocalist, writer and bandleader Shayna Steele is thrilled to take The Wilshire Project to the Downtown NYC JazzFest. Co-founded by Steele and longtime collaborator David Cook, the project takes its inspiration from the Cocoanut Grove at the Ambassador Hotel on Wilshire Boulevard, a space known for celebrating live music of the era with sophistication and style.

Steele, whose work spans jazz, soul, orchestral and contemporary music, leads an 4-piece ensemble made up of New York-based improvisers. The repertoire draws on contemporary jazz with an emphasis on texture, atmosphere, and modern orchestration.
