Matt Garcia is a New York–based tenor saxophonist, composer, and educator from Denton, Texas. An NYU graduate and Juilliard-trained musician, he has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Village Vanguard, Blue Note, Birdland, Dizzy’s Club, and Smalls Jazz Club alongside artists including Ron McClure, Curtis Lundy, Joe Farnsworth, Sean Jones, Christian McBride, and Rich Perry. His debut trio album for Steeplechase Records, featuring Martin Wind and Billy Drummond, will be released on October 16. Rooted in the Black American musical tradition, his work draws from the blues and jazz while forging a personal contemporary voice.
