Throughout the month of May, the Django will be featuring young, emerging talent as part of our inaugural "Next Generation Series":
Domo Branch is a New York-based drummer, composer, and producer from Portland, Oregon. He is the co-owner of the Sound Poets Productions with his partner Matt Malanowski. He is also co-leader of the band Brown Branch with childhood friend Charlie Brown III. In 2021, Domo released his first album, “A Painful Truth”, which reflects his experiences as a young black man growing up in North Portland. Since moving to New York in 2018 to attend the Manhattan School of Music, Domo has established himself as one of the music world’s up and coming drummers, composers, and producers. Having performed and/or toured with prominent artists such as Sean Jones, Taylor Eigsti, Dianne Reeves, Mike Phillips, and Wynton Marsalis. In the winter of 2021, he went on tour with Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Furthermore, Domo has performed at a variety of festivals and venues such as Carnegie Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Caramoor Jazz Festival, Rose Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and New York’s Jazz Standard. Finally, Domo is an experienced motivational speaker, having presented public speeches to musicians and students at school’s on the subject(s) of staying motivated, and being inspired.
