“Rising star” (All About Jazz) trumpeter Danny Jonokuchi has been called “a sound of this era” (Nextbop) and was unanimously named the winner of the 2020 Count Basie Great American Swing Contest, as well as the 2020 ASCAP Louis Armstrong Award. Few artists are as diverse as this trumpeter, vocalist, composer, arranger, producer and educator who has been featured on Grammy-nominated recordings, revered jazz clubs, and Broadway stages. His sound has been described as “smile-inducing” (Downbeat) and “crisp, clean, and refreshingly joyful” (The Syncopated Times). LA-bred and NYC-based, his compositions and “well-crafted arrangements” (Jazz Weekly) have been performed by big bands around the world, studio orchestras, and superstars alike. A multi-talented bandleader steeped in the jazz tradition, he fronts the Danny Jonokuchi Big Band, the swing band The Revisionists, and co-leads The New Alchemy Jazz Orchestra, all to sold out audiences from coast to coast. A musical trailblazer, he continues to collaborate on a variety of projects for internationally touring artists, television, and the big screen.
