Guitarist Brent Canter presents a distinctly contemporary take on jazz, blending influences ranging from post-bop to alternative rock to drum and bass music. A Los Angeles native who developed his sound as part of the New York scene, Brent has earned critical praise from publications including Jazz Times and the Wall Street Journal. An ASCAP Award-winning composer, in-demand session guitarist and songwriter, Brent's sound is characterized by often-distorted guitar playing and legato lead lines with deep grooves, dynamic harmony and memorable melodies. A former student of Blue Note legend Kenny Burrell, Brent has gone on to forge a modern style on the guitar which draws on classic sounds, but pushes the instrument into new territory sonically and technically.

"Canter is creating a new vocabulary for jazz, the new jazz standards for his generation"
- Hollywood Weekly

“The strong point of guitarist Canter's music is that you can come to it from any perspective; you don't need a degree in jazz studies or a deep understanding of John Coltrane to understand it. New listeners who've spent their lives listening to Tween Wave can relate no less than those of us who've explored every millimeter of the jazz continuum”
- The Wall Street Journal
